Absolute Pubs, the independent pub chain founded in Surrey in 2008, has announced it has signed contracts on a venue in Sunbury-on-Thames taking the business up to four pubs in as many years.

The chain, run by Simon and Sarah Bailey, will reopen the Flower Pot as an Absolute Pub at the beginning of August after a £200k refurb.

Independently run

The Brakspear tenancy pub is the fourth venue for the company since they first opened the Kings Arms in Hampton Court and joins the other three venues all located along the Surrey and Middlesex border

“Our goal is to provide the consistency in standards and service customers expect from a brand, but without making each pub a clone of the others,” Simon said of Absolute Pubs. Each venue is run independently depending on the pub itself and the neighbourhood but all target local residents and workers and offer both food and drink in an informal setting.

While the first pub the group opened includes ten en-suite bedrooms, The Bell Inn in Hampton is styled predominantly as a gastro pub.

The menus for each pub are also site-specific but offer pub classics alongside salads, sharing boards and steaks which all use meat from the same Oxfordshire cattle

Next level

“We’re delighted to be taking on our fourth pub, which opens up a new catchment area for us and is the perfect platform for taking Absolute Pubs onto the next level,” Simon added.

“Taking on and re-launching four pubs in as many years has been a real challenge, but the reward of seeing each site flourish has made all the hard work worthwhile.  We’re looking forward to turning the Flower Pot into another successful Absolute Pub and to growing awareness of what the brand stands for,” he added.

The pair, who are both newcomers to the pub industry, are now planning to launch a customer loyalty scheme across all four pubs which offers discounts on meal and accommodation among other benefits.
