Artist Residence is design-led and aims to offer a ‘young, hip alternative’ to larger London hotels
The third Artist Residence boutique hotel is to open in London’s Pimlico in September, a follow on from its sister hotels in Brighton and Penzance in Cornwall.

The boutique hotel is being opened by young hoteliers Justin Salisbury and Charlotte Newey. The venture is design-led and aims to offer a ‘young, hip alternative’ to the larger hotels which can be found around the UK capital.

The hotel will be the first Artist Residence hotel to open in London and is the smallest of the Artist Residence hotels so far, with the Brighton venue boasting 23 rooms and the Cornwall hotel having 18 bedrooms and apartments. The London venture is situated 10 minutes away from Victoria Station in the Pimlico area and the lead-in rate for rooms will range upwards from £160 a night.

Artist Residence in Pimlico will have only 10 rooms, two of which are suites, while the others are all individually designed ‘house rooms’. The rooms will be furnished in a more rustic style, aiming for an understated but eclectic feel and featuring a range of vintage furnishings. Bathrooms will be contemporary and are fitted out with Lefroy Brooks fixtures; all meant to offer a relaxed feel to guest’s surroundings.

Food offering

With regards to its food offering, the Artist Residence hotel is working with chef Michael Bremner, who owns 64 Degrees eatery in Brighton. He will be bringing 64 Degrees to the hotel in London, where it will have a 40-cover restaurant upstairs and 60-cover bar area downstairs. Bremner will split his time equally between the Brighton venue and the London one.

He will create a menu of small plates that changes daily, and the restaurant intends to allow customers to create their own tasting menus that they can share, ignoring the traditional ‘starter, main, then dessert’ concept. The venue has counter style seating to create an informal atmosphere, and serves lunch and dinner, as well as breakfast to guests staying at the hotel.

The restaurant’s menu includes dishes such as Kimchi chicken wings with blue cheese, Potato Knödel with emulsified smoked butter and cabbage, and Mackerel, waldorf and pomegranate.

The hotel will also feature a relaxed cocktail lounge serving a number of classic cocktails.
