The British Hospitality Association (BHA) has teamed up with ITN Productions to produce a news and current affairs programme that explores the value of hospitality and tourism in the UK.

‘The Heart of Hospitality & Tourism’ will look at how the UK positions itself as a benchmark for excellence in hospitality and tourism.

It will be premiered at the British Hospitality & Tourism Summit on Tuesday 30 June 2015, which will be hosted by Accor at the Novotel London West.

A central feature of the programme will be a look into how the sector can become more sustainable and profitable while strengthening ties between the industry and the government.

It will also examine the regulatory and financial challenges faced by the hospitality industry.

The news-style element will combine key industry interviews and reports with sponsored editorial profiles of some of the leading organisations in the sector.

The programme will then form part of an extensive online communications campaign which includes BHA members as well as journalists, writers and bloggers across the sector.

Ufi Ibrahim, chief executive at the BHA, said: “The hospitality and tourism industry has been singled out by government ministers for its ‘sharp focus’ on job generation, and it’s a little known fact that our sector accounted for one-third of all new jobs created between 2010 and 2012.”

Ibrahim added: “This growth will move hospitality into the top three biggest employers in Britain, and with 44 per cent of hospitality employees under the age of 30, it’s fair to say that this sector is the future.

“We look forward to creating an inspiring new programme, which will showcase our work and inspire future generations.”

Simon Shelley, ITN Productions UK director of programming, added: “We’re excited to continue our programming partnership with the BHA to chart the growth of this sector that provides so many jobs as well as economic benefits for the UK.”
