Bea Vo’s Soul Food Enterprises to launch third site The Famous Flames
Soul Food Enterprises, the restaurant company from Bea Vo of Stax Diner and Boondocks, has secured a new venue in London’s Kentish Town to launch new concept The Famous Flames.

The 870 sq ft, 15-seat site, across the ground floor and basement, is set to open in January. It will be Vo’s third venture in London, and will specialise in flame-grilled burgers and fried wings.

Its main focus will be takeaway options, but there will also be a small seating area.

In contrast to Vo’s existing Deep American South sites, which are more nostalgic in style, The Famous Flames will aim to be more modern.

A range of styles of deep-fried wing buckets will be available – from Southern, Korean, Buffalo, and Memphis BBQ, to Filipino. The burgers will be a thin patty between two American-style ‘potato buns’. The signature dish will be the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, which will be served with a cayenne butter sauce.

Desserts will include ‘Waffle Fries’ and ‘dipped ice cream cones’, made with Mr. Whippy style cones dipped in chocolate or butterscotch glaze.

Vo’s other sites comprise the Stax Diner in the London’s Kingly Court on Carnaby Street, which opened in 2015, and the chicken-and-waffles site Boondocks, which opened in Moorgate earlier this year.

Vo was also previously of the well-known London cake shop and tearoom Bea’s of Bloomsbury, and the Maltby Street Diner.

Davis Coffer Lyons acted on behalf of the landlord, St Charles Property.
