Briciole opened its doors late last month in Homer Street, Marylebone

Chef Maurizio Morelli, who has run the Latium restaurant in London’s Fitzrovia for the past eight years, has opened a second site in Marylebone.

Briciole – which means Breadcrumbs in Italian – launched last month at 20 Homer Street. The 50-cover, informal Italian trattoria features a rustic Italian menu, with a low price point.

The restaurant will be overseen by manager Umberto Tosi who worked with Morelli at Latium. It features an adjacent private dining room with space for an additional 30, and a Gastronomía (deli).

On the menu

Dishes include focaccia bruschetta with burrata, grilled aubergines and olives; vitello tonnato; potato gnocchi with fresh tomatoes and smoked scamorza; tagliatelle with artichokes; and sausage cooked in tomato sauce with polenta and pecorino.

Desserts range from Sicilian cannoli with ricotta, candied orange and chocolate; tramisù; and lemon sorbet with prosecco. An all-Italian wine list of 160 bins (from £13.75) offers 22 by the glass (from £3.40), including many from small regional Italian producers.

Prices range from £2-£8 for starters, £6-£9 for pastas, £5-£10 for main courses, and £2.50-£3.50 for desserts. The entire restaurant menu is also available to take away and it will source specific ingredients for customers on request.

Briciole’s Gastonomía is open daily, seating up to 10 in the bar area for coffee, pastries and snacks. The restaurant also offers a handful of pavement tables to seat up to 16, for dining in the summer.

Great Italian. Great heart.

What a great place to eat! They are still finding their feet, but the food is great and the service professional. Don't go big eat lots of small plates and mix and match as much as you like. Nice to see this away from the maddening crowd. Great for a secret rendezvous with a beautiful lady!!
