Warwickshire-based gastropub operator CD Pub Co has acquired its fourth pub - the Old Chequers Inn in Crowle.

The family-owned company, founded by Christine Harris and her partner David Mills in 2008, has taken on a 20 year lease for the 90-cover pub restaurant with plans to re-open it this spring as The Chequers at Crowle.

The new pub will join The Stag at Offchurch, The Moorings at Myton near Leamington Spa and The Forest at Feckenham within the group and its acquisition takes the company further towards its ambition to own five pubs in the area and will create 20 new jobs.

CD Pub Co operations director Charles Harris said: "We’ve been looking for the right venue to complement The Forest at Feckenham for over a year and our highly acclaimed head chef Tom Robinson will be based at The Chequers, but will mentor Steven Massey who will be promoted to head chef at The Forest at Feckenham."

Almost £500k is being invested in a 16-week refurbishment of the pub which will include a new roof and an increased electrics supply.

Harris added: “Being a family business we’re lucky enough to tap into the professional interior designer skills of Christine Harris, who will be using a creative electic palette with inspired hues, fabrics and furnishings to bring the pub’s new style and décor to life with a contemporary twist."
