2 commentsBy Luke Nicholls , 13-Mar-2012

Mexican restaurant chain Chipotle is set to launch its third, fourth and fifth sites in London in the second quarter of 2012 as part of its continued expansion plans.

The latest new opening to be revealed - at 334 Upper Street, Islington – will be Chipotle’s first site outside of central London, while the other two are located at St Martins Lane in Covent Garden and Wardour Street, Soho.

"We are excited to be opening our first restaurant outside of central London, in Islington, planned for the second quarter of 2012,” said Rex Jones, executive director for International Development at Chipotle.

“The food culture in the UK is based on local, sustainable and artisanal foods, which are all core values of Chipotle."

On-going expansion

Chipotle, which operates over 1,200 restaurants in the US, opened its first UK site in 2010 followed by its second in Baker Street last year. Its restaurants feature what it calls ‘Food with Integrity’, with a distinctly focused menu of burritos, tacos and salads.

Last year, BigHospitality revealed that the restaurant chain was gearing up for its expansion , with restaurateur Jacob Sumner, who heads up Chipotle’s UK business, stating:  “We definitely have more sites coming in the greater London area, and we’re exploring the rest of the UK.”

Why not Bromley

No Yo Sushi, no Yalla Yalla...would be nice to have one in our most South Eastern corner of London.
