A new social entertainment venue based around darts is set to open its doors in London next month.

Flight Club is the creation of founders Steve Moore, Paul Barhan and Adam Breeden, chief executive and founder of ping-pong entertainment concept Bounce.

The two-storey venue on Worship Street, based equidistant between Moorgate and Old Street, will host 12 oches with dart boards fitted with bespoke technology for real time scoring and a bar on each floor when it opens on 29 October.

Designer Russell Sage has been commissioned to create the venue's interior which has been inspired by the great British pub, but with a quirky twist and will feature fairground lights and Chesterfield style sofas.

Moore, a former futures trader, told BigHospitality he wanted to 'bring darts back into the social conscience' and hoped that highlighting the game in a modern setting would attract a new, younger audience.

"As a spectator sport darts has never been bigger, but as a social sport it has lost its way a bit. You used to go to any pub and it would be focused around the dart board, but too often now it is just shoved in a corner. We have invested a lot in the technology behind the venue and are bringing darts back in a way that is more current," he said.

Flight Club's food offering - mainly pizza and light bites - is described as 'event food' and has been designed to be eaten between throws. Drinks will also be available to be ordered from an iPad at the oche so customers don't need to leave the darts game to get them.

"Everything centres around the game here," said Moore. "The Sardinian paddle pizzas have been made so they stay together and the base doesn't flop when you take a piece."

"We just want to give people a really good night out in a fun, stylised venue."
