Restaurant and bar group Drake & Morgan is to open three new sites over the next 12 months, including its first and second openings in Manchester, and a venue in West India Quay.

The new openings will bring the group’s portfolio to 14 once its Heathrow Terminal 4 site, The Commission, has opened in summer.

The first in the newly-announced trio will be The Refinery, in Spinningfields Manchester, opening in the autumn of this year. It will occupy a 185-cover, 5,800 sq ft site in the Cotton Building, and forms part of Drake & Morgan’s wider aim of expanding its Refinery brand.

The group’s second Manchester site will be a 185-cover, 6,000 sq ft venue at One St Peter’s Square, and will follow in spring 2017.

The third site in this batch of openings will be a 400-cover, three-storey, 13,000 sq ft location in London’s West India Quay, also expected for the spring of 2017.

Managing director Jillian MacLean said: “We are delighted to be bringing our bars & restaurants to Edinburgh and Manchester and to be expanding in our heartland in central London.  We look forward to accelerating the rollout of our business and welcoming more lovely customers.”

The announcement comes soon after the company revealed it would open new site The Commission at London Heathrow’s Terminal 4 in summer, and also follows its plans to open a site in Edinburgh’s St. Andrew’s Square in November this year.

The rapidly-expanding group was founded by MacLean in 2008, and currently operates nine sites across London, including two The Refinery locations. Its flagship in King’s Cross opened in autumn last year, and in 2013 it was bought by Bowmark Capital with a view to expanding to 70 sites across the UK.
