Former chef colleagues Tom Sellers and Tom Aikens to collaborate

Chefs Tom Sellers and Tom Aikens are to collaborate and co-host two tasting menu dinners at Sellers’ Restaurant Story on 15 and 16 February.

‘Kitchen Stories’ will include dishes showing the cooking style of both chefs, while wine pairing for Tom Sellers’ dishes will come from Restaurant Story sommelier Patrick Frawley, and pairing for Aikens’ dishes from former Restaurant Tom Aikens sommelier Gearoid Devaney.

This is not the first time the chefs have worked together: Sellers used to work at Aikens’ eponymous Chelsea restaurant for two and half years, before moving to Per Se in New York.

The eight-dish, six-snack tasting menu will cost £150 per person – with an extra £80 for wine pairings – and will include a glass of Nyetimber Classic Cuvée on arrival.

Sellers, whose Restaurant Story opened in London's Bermondsey in 2012 and gained a Michelin star just five months later in April 2013, also went on to open Restaurant Ours in Knightsbridge, in summer last year.

Following an often-controversial career, which saw him become the youngest chef ever to be awarded two Michelin stars as head chef at London's Pied à Terre, Aikens now runs his Tom’s Kitchen group, which has sites across the capital, including at HMS Belfast, Canary Wharf, Chelsea, and Somerset House.

Commenting on the collaboration, Sellers said: "Tom Aikens is one of my ultimate heroes, he taught me the power of imagining through food. We first met when I cooked in his kitchen years ago, and now I’m thrilled to have him cook alongside me in my restaurant."

Aikens said: “I am very excited to be working with Tom again. It gives me a real sense of pride to see one of my previous chefs making a great name for himself and Tom has worked tirelessly to create truly amazing dining and eating experience.”
