Handmade Burger Co collapses in to administration
Leonard Curtis Recovery was appointed as joint administrators and says it wants to find a solution to 'save as many jobs as possible'.
The remaining restaurants will continue to trade as normal under the joint administrators’ control.
Leonard Curtis Recovery says it intends to seek approval from the company's creditors to a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA). This will allow the company to pay creditors over a fixed period if they agree and means the company can continue trading.
If this cannot be achieved then they will seek to find a buyer for the business.
The joint administrators are in discussions with the key stakeholders and creditors of the business to achieve a positive outcome.
Handmade Burger Co was founded in Birmingham’s Brindleyplace in 2006 by the Sargeant family who said at the end of last year that they intended to add 15 venues over the next three years.
In July 2015 the company received a cash injection of £600,000 from Finance Birmingham to help fit out its site at Birmingham's Grand Central shopping centre and refurbish two existing restaurants.
The company appointed former Frankie & Benny’s managing director Kevin Bacon as non-executive director in November 2016.
According to BigHospitality's sister site MCA, Bacon has stepped down from his role as chairman of the company.
MCA flagged up yesterday that doubts had been raised about the future of Handmade Burger Co, after handful of its sites closed unexpectedly and its website and social media sites were taken offline.
