Premier Foodservice is helping restaurant and pub chefs get off to a spooky start this Halloween with the launch of its Winter Warmers calendar.

The six month calendar is designed to help chefs make the most of seasonal events, including Halloween, Bonfire Night, Christmas and Valentine's Day by including recipe inspiration, top tips and advice on how to support and promote their offering.

Six new recipes created by Premier Foodservice's executive chef and head of innovation and using Premier Foodservices' best-loved brands such as Bisto, Sharwood’s, Homepride and McDougalls, feature within the new calendar alongside inspirational advice.

Recipes include the Halloween-themed Bisto Pumpkin Lasagne (pictured) and Roast Lamb with Rhubarb & Cider Bisto Gravy.

Sarah Robb, channel marketing manager, said: “This is a first for us as the Winter Warmers campaign enables us to support caterers with recipes and ideas through a crucial six month period. Winter is an important time of the year for caterers as each month presents a new occasion and therefore a new opportunity to drive sales.

"We realise it can also be a stressful time in any professional kitchen and at Premier Foods we aim to make life easier for our customers, by providing them with products they can rely on and helpful advice in a format that will keep them organised throughout the winter season.”

Premier Foods' top tips for Halloween:

  • Decorate the venue with pumpkins, ghosts and ghouls to advertise to consumers that you are offering something new this Halloween.
  • Offer sharing dishes with seasonal ingredients, such as the Bisto Pumpkin Lasagne – serve this with garlic bread and a family sized salad for a set price.
  • Bring the Halloween theme through in your dessert offering by adding spooky decorations to cake toppings.
  • Run a competition for families to design a paper pumpkin, which could help entertain children while they wait for their meal. Each entrant could receive a voucher for a round of drinks on their next visit, encouraging repeat custom.

Competitions

To coincide with the launch of the calendar in October, Premier Foodservice is asking chefs to showcase their skills and creativity by posting images or videos of their spookiest pumpkins for the chance to win a hamper worth £100.

To enter, chefs should Tweet an image or video of their design to @PremierFoods_FS using #PremierPumpkin to be in with a change of winning. All entries must be received by 2 November 2015.

Everyone who downloads Premier Foodservice's Winter Warmers calendar (which can be done here) will also be automatically entered into a competition to win a UK break for two.
