Mediterranean restaurant brand Hummus Bros has started a crowdfunding campaign to help fund its expansion plans.

The company, founded by Christian Mouysset and Ronen Givon in 2003, plans to raise £250k for 4.35 per cent of equity through Seedrs which it will use to fund the opening of two more high street outlets and a series of pop-up restaurants.

Hummus Bros, which pioneered the concept of the 'hummus bowl' - a layer of hummus with a topping such as beef stew, falafel salad, guacamole or tabouleh - currently operates four sites in London - in Soho, Holborn, St Paul's and Exmouth Market (currently closed for refurbishment work).

The company has also been running pop-up restaurants in the City at firms Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley.

Last year Hummus Bros took on former Patisserie Valerie operations diredctor Jon Hassall who helped with a rebrand and elevate sales.

Mouysset said: “We have achieved some important milestones in the last few months, including an increase in sales by 33 per cent year-on-year. It is now a perfect time to open more stores and expand our network of corporate pop-ups.

"We chose Seedrs as our partner for this fundraising because it is clearly the firm trusted by investors as equity crowdfunding done properly.”

Seedrs chief executive and co-founder Jeff Lynn said: “Hummus Bros is widely admired for its organic growth and delicious menus. We are delighted to be hosting the Hummus Bros campaign, and we’re excited to see their customers, fans and partners jump on board to be a part of the business.”
