In Restaurant magazine’s third Eats Out event, we explored London’s burgeoning new wave Indian scene, including Tandoor Chophouse, Talli Joe, and Hoppers

First up was Tandoor Chophouse, a smart Covent Garden restaurant that fuses the British chophouse with the communal eateries of Northern India. Next up was Talli Joe, which serves up ‘half’ plates of regional Indian dishes and is headed up by former Benares head chef Sameer Taneja.

A few rose G&Ts later the tour headed over to Soho to sample Hoppers eponymous Sri Lankan bowl-shaped fermented rice and coconut milk pancakes and a number of its curries. The final stop of the tour was Will Bowlby and Rik Campbell’s Kricket, which applies authentic Indian flavours to seasonal British ingredients.

Restaurant Eats Out has been designed to get restaurateurs acquainted with London’s most on-trend restaurants and provide insight into how they operate and what makes them tick. Look out for next month’s video, which will take in some of the capital’s newest East Asian restaurants.
