Jason Atherton's restaurant company The Social Company is to open its second London restaurant with Restaurant Associates.

Temple & Sons will open alongside Tower 42 in the City, where The Social Company and Restaurant Associates' restaurant City Social is situated. Its kitchen will be overseen by City Social's executive chef Paul Walsh who has worked closely with Atherton on the menu.

The 80-cover grill restaurant and 40-cover all-day deli and bar will be set across two floors with the latter taking over the ground floor.

With interiors overseen by Russell Sage Studio and inspired by a traditional British grocery store, it will serve traditional British dishes such as game sausage roll, creamy mash and HP gravy as well as cured meats from Cannon & Cannon and transform into a cocktail bar in the evening, serving carbonated cocktails canned on site.

Upstairs, the restaurant kitchen will operate entirely from custom-built grills using varying types of wood, charcoal and hay and will serve grilled fish, meat and poultry in whole or large cuts designed to share. Dishes will include wood-fired pork chop, collar and crackling with sage & pine nut crumb and whole grilled Newlyn line-caught turbot with pickled Cornish cockle and pork vinaigrette. Desserts will take inspiration from traditional British puddings.

Atherton, who has worked with Compass Group UK & Ireland's division Restaurant Associates for more than six years, said: "Temple & Sons is my tribute to our great British produce and dining traditions. Following the success of our partnership with Restaurant Associates on City Social, I’m very happy to be working with them again.”

James Boyle, managing director of Restaurant Associates, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Jason and his team again. The work we have done together at City Social has been outstanding and we hope to mirror some of this success at Temple & Sons. There is an appetite for a more casual style of dining in the City of London, and we are thrilled to be part of its growing food scene.”

Temple & Sons will open on 21 November.
