Small French restaurant chain Le Bistrot Pierre is to double the number of restaurants in its estate to 20 by 2018 after agreeing a multi-million pound capital financing deal.

The privately owned group is currently in 10 locations, including Nottingham, Derby, Harrogate and Plymouth with its eleventh site set to open in Cardiff next month.

Other sites have also been secured in Birmingham and Torquay and the company is actively seeking sites in Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Milton Keynes, Bristol and Taunton.

Members of Le Bistrot Pierre's board said the ongoing growth in turnover across the group meant it was the right time to expand.

Joint founder John Whitehead said: “It has long been part of our plan to grow and expand Le Bistrot Pierre and appeal to a national market. Doubling our sites is a big step forward and we are all very excited about the coming years ahead.”

Brand recognition

Le Bistrot Pierre called in corporate finance specialits Cooper Parry to advise it on raising finance.

John Bryant, partner at Cooper Parry who led the deal said,  “Le Bistrot Pierre has great brand recognition and has carved out its niche in the premium casual dining sector of the eating out market. Having enjoyed steady growth in the past, this major financing deal will be integral to its planned future success.”

“We are delighted to have been involved in a deal which will allow the management team to roll out the Le Bistrot Pierre brand across the UK.”

Le Bistrot Pierre joint founder Robert Beacham said: “We have spent years creating a restaurant brand that is firmly focused on great value French dining and good food. We are very proud that this combination has proved to be the right mix and that it has enabled us to get to where we are now

Beacham and Whitehead founded Le Bistrot Pierre 19 years ago to fill a gap in the market for a relaxed French bistro style restaurant.
