John Whitfield of Duff & Phelps was appointed administrator of the company, which owns The Mill Hotel in Croston, Lancashire and The Miraj Hotel and Leisure Club in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, yesterday.
He employed Legacy, operator of more than 30 three and four star hotels in the UK and Spain, to act as a managing agent for the properties while a decision is made for their futures.
Whitfield said: "We will act to ensure that all staff and customers will be kept fully updated at this difficult time as we assess the situation and work together to ensure the best outcome for the business."
Andy Townsend, chief executive of Legacy Hotels and Resorts, will now be responsible for the 46-bedroom Mill Hotel in Lancashire and the 50-bedroom Miraj Hotel, owned by the Gwent-based Arinza Star Hotels before administrators were called in.
He said: “We have vast experience in operating and managing hotels across the UK and have established a reputation of turning round under-performing venues.”
