Mela Group Plans Major Brand Rollout

The Mela Group, which operates Mela, 3 Monkeys and Chowki restaurants, is planning a large-scale brand rollout following a £2 million cash injection.

THE MELA Group, which currently operates Mela, Chowki and 3 Monkeys restaurants, is planning a brand rollout following a £2 million cash injection.

The group is planning on focusing on the Mela and Chowki brands, and will convert the 3 Monkeys site in Helm Hill, London, to a Mela.

Chowki is positioned as a high street brand, with fast turnaround in high footfall locations. The Mela side will be concentrated on destination restaurants with a much higher spend per head.

The cash has come from a capital investment company, and plans involve rolling the two brands out across the UK with the help of restaurant marketing consultants, The Restaurant Ingredient.

Mela was awarded the Moet & Chandon Carlton London Restaurant Awards “Indian restaurant of the year” in 2001, and Chowki won a Tio Pepe ITV London Tonight Restaurant Award back in 2004.
