The finalists will compete in the four-day grand finals event from 17 - 20 May, where students will be put through their paces as they are exposed to a wide and varied range of 'real-life' hospitality scenarios.

Neil Stephens, managing director at Nestlé Professional, said: “This year’s Toque d’Or has been designed to test students’ skills to the full, offering an unparallelled opportunity to participate on a number of levels and across a range of disciplines including business strategy and planning, menu development and customer service.

“Let’s not forget this is about more than a competition.  As the hospitality sector continues to grow, addressing the skills gap becomes even more important.”

The eight finalists include:

  • Blackpool & The Fylde College
  • Hull College
  • Liverpool Community College
  • Petroc
  • Sheffield City College
  • Shrewsbury College
  • South Downs College
  • Westminster Kingsway College
