Both restaurants are operated by restaurateur Eddie Lim. Mango Tree Harrods will open as the sister site to Mango Tree Belgravia, while Pan Chai is a new concept, offering authentic Southeast Asian cuisine.

“It’s always exciting to open a new restaurant, but it is a privilege to have both Pan Chai and Mango Tree in Harrods, one of the world’s most iconic stores,” said Lim, who also owns Malaysian restaurant Awana in Chelsea.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming customers to all that Southeast Asia has to offer and providing them with quality cuisine.”

Paul Goodale, director of restaurants at Harrods, added: “We believe the exceptional dishes and warm hospitality offered by Pan Chai and Mango Tree at Harrods make them the perfect addition to our portfolio of 28 restaurants.

“At Harrods we are always seeking to exceed our shoppers’ expectations with an array of gourmet dining experiences and are sure they’ll be thrilled with these latest additions.”

Pan Chai

Pan Chai’s menu will feature a selection of sushi dishes, sashimi, salads and larger plates. Signature dishes at the restaurant will include Harrods Special sushi rolls (crabmeat, tobiko, cucumber, topped with Japanese mayonnaise, salmon and spring onions), and a unique seaweed salad with collagen, peanut and miso.

Interior specialists Stoneforce have designed both restaurants. Pan Chai's interior will be in keeping with the original features of the Grade II listed building. Twenty-two marble and leather bar stools will surround an open-plan kitchen.

Mango Tree

Mango Tree will feature freshly prepared Thai dishes and dim sum. The menu will include Thai papaya salad, fried sea bass with mango salad and roast duck with tamarind sauce.

The design of Mango Tree will feature high-gloss materials and traditional marble.

Last month, BigHospitality reported that Galvin Restaurants and Richard Corrigan will open new restaurants at Harrods this year as the Kensington department store looks to firmly establish itself as a top food destination in the capital.
