Pub operator Redcomb Pubs has announced plans to develop a casual dining concept as it looks to 'stretch and broaden' its business portfolio.

The business, which operates 14 pubs in London and surrounding counties, will open Lock House, an all-day dining bar at 3 Merchants Square within the newly redeveloped Paddington Basin in September

Redcomb Pubs will invest £1.3m in the 3,700 sq ft 180-cover site which will open daily from 8am and serve a menu of street-food inspired dishes, superfood salads and grab-and-go-options alongside craft beers, wine and cocktails.

Managing director Dan Shotton said the Paddington site would be used to 'test the market' before rolling the concept out to other sites.

"It's early days for us to state a number of sites at the moment, but we are eager to stretch and broaden the Redcomb portfolio," he said.

"This does not represent a move away from the pub sector for Redcomb, our pubs are still very much at the heart of our business.

"We are looking to accelerate our growth and the casual dining sector offers prime opportunities for us to do this. Good quality pub stock in the south east is not always easy to come by, so diversifying into new areas with a casual dining venture offers us a great opportunity to continue to grow our business and capitalise on high footfall, metropolitan areas."

Redcomb Pubs, formed in 2009, comprises of an expanding group of urban and country pubs that 'centre on offering the best of modern British style with the hospitality and welcome of a traditional British pub'.
