SiteMinder reveals highest revenue-generating hotel booking platforms
Booking.com has topped a list of booking platforms generating the highest revenue for UK hotels last year.

The list, compiled by cloud platform SiteMinder, is based on the total gross booking revenue facilitated by its own Channel Manager for its customers in the UK, who include the De Vere Group.

Booking.com - part of the Priceline Group - narrowly beat Expedia to the top of the list with SiteMinder's own booking site TheBookingButton ranking third. The Priceline Group's Agoda platform as well as Expedia's Orbitz and Travelocity also feature.

“This list captures the distribution channels that led the industry in providing one the most critical measures for a hotel’s success today – its online revenue,” said Mike Ford, co-founder and managing director at SiteMinder.

Although many hoteliers regard online travel agents (OTAs) as a 'necessary evil' Ford, whose company saw approximately $11bn of online revenue pass through its technology over the last year said he hoped that releasing the list would help hoteliers better increase their reach and conversions online.

“With the ubiquitous headlines on market consolidation and acquisitions in 2015, it is easy to forget the role each individual site plays in the decision-making and booking process of today’s traveller," he said.

The top 10 booking sites for hotels in the UK in 2015 were:

  1. Booking.com
  2. Expedia
  3. TheBookingButton
  4. LateRooms.com
  5. Agoda.com
  6. GTA
  7. Hotelbeds
  8. Orbitz
  9. HRS
  10. Travelocity.
