German hotel company Penta has recruited a team of hotel professionals to lead the development of its hotels in the UK

The group’s first UK hotel has already opened in Reading at the former Renaissance Hotel, but it is planning a multi-million pound re-development of the site to fall in line with the company`s modern image.

Former Golden Tulip Regional General Manager, Philip Cox (pictured, right) has been appointed General Manager of the hotel and will oversee the operation.

He said: “Our plan is to create a totally unique destination venue with pentahotels. It’s a challenge to change what was already a highly established hotel, but I think the evolution will make it more iconic.”

Sales Manager Jo Stevens joins Cox following a three-year stint at Malmaison and Hotel Du Vin Group where she was Regional Business Development Manager. She will be responsible for ensuring a smooth transition of Renaissance clients to pentahotel and driving accommodation and event business.

Penta, which owns 13 hotel in Germany is planning to open more sites across the UK after the completion of the re-branding at the Reading hotel.
