Two ‘superbly located’ hotels in Northumberland have been put up for sale after falling into administration.

The Lord Crewe Arms Hotel in Blanchland, Northumberland and Warkworth House Hotel in Warkworth near Morpeth are being marketed for sale by hospitality specialist advisors Christie & Co on the instruction of the Joint Administrators at Begbies Traynor.

The Lord Crewe Arms Hotel ​is a 13th-century building situated in the village of Blanchland at the western end of the Derwent Reservoir. The hotel offers 20 double bedrooms, along with a 40-cover restaurant and a Crypt Bar.

The free-of-tie leasehold interest in the Lord Crewe Arms Hotel is being marketed by Christie & Co at £65,000.

Warkworth House Hotel​ has 14 bedrooms, a bar, bistro and restaurant set over three floors of a stone-constructed character property in Warkworth. The hotel also includes a two-storey cottage annex.

Christie & Co is seeking offers in the region of £500,000 for the freehold of Warkworth House Hotel.

Mark Worley, associate director of Christie & Co in Newcastle said: “Superbly located for the regular tourist trade in the region and full of character, these two hotels have the potential to be amongst the finest in Northumberland.

“We expect, and are already beginning to generate, a considerable amount of interest in these two prize assets.”
