Wagamama is trialling a breakfast menu at its new Great Marlborough Street restaurant in London as part of new innovations for the group.

The Japanese inspired restaurant chain's new flagship 225-cover restaurant in central London will open for business on 11 May, marking the start of an ambitious growth plan and a major refurbishment programme.

Over the next three years, the company aims to open 40 new sites and refurbish 100 existing sites.

Simon Cope, Wagamama global brand director, said: “The Wagamama proposition is even more relevant today than it was 23 years ago when we started, as the appetite for pan-Asian food, speed and value continues to grow.

"But Kaizen, the Japanese practice of continuous improvement, is the inspiration behind our renewal project – standing still is going backwards. The opening of Great Marlborough Street marks the start of one of our biggest renewal and opening plans to date.”

Breakfast

Wagamama's new breakfast offering, available from 8am to 11.30am daily, will include breakfast yaki-soba - teppan-fried soba noodles with bacon, egg, cabbage, mushrooms and tomato; breakfast ramen - oak smoked streaky bacon, grilled sausage, mixed mushrooms and a poached egg on soba noodles in miso broth and porridge made with coconut milk and served with berry compote.

Prices start at £4,25 for a hirata steamed bun with mixed mushroom and nori omlette to £8.50 for Wagamama kedgeree.

Wagamama executive chef Steve Mangleshot said: “I can’t wait to showcase our latest menu and brand new Asian breakfast offering at Wagamama, Great Marlborough Street.

"My personal favourite is the okonomiyaki; a Japanese-style omelette, we’re sure our customers will love it. Wagamama continues to reinforce positive eating by using fresh ingredients served in atmospheric surroundings.”

The breakfast menu will be trialled indefinitely at the Great Marlborough Street branch. A spokesperson for the company said there were currently no plans to sell breakfast at other sites.
