Blur’s Alex James hosts Harvest food and music festival

Blur musician turned foodie Alex James is to welcome Nuno Mendes, Mark Hix and a raft of other celebrity chefs to The Harvest Festival at his farm in Oxfordshire this September.

Running alongside Jimmy Doherty’s Harvest Festival in Ipswich, the food and music event will see the likes of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Thomasina Miers host pop-up restaurants and cookery masterclasses while music acts KT Tunstall and Jo Whiley play on the nearby soundstages.

The three-day event organised by Big Wheel will provide space for campers to pitch up, although those searching for a less muddy experience can hire luxury yurts, teepees and bell tents, complete with butler service and breakfast in bed from the Harvest Hotel.

Mark Hix will host a Champagne and Seafood Bar for adult entertainment, while the whole family can enjoy performances from The Gruffalo and Charlie and Lola.

The Harvest Festival is thought to be the first major food and music event celebrating the national harvest season.
