Exclusive Hotels initially launched a campaign back in January to raise £30,000 for each of the two charities. A gala dinner held at at South Lodge Hotel in Horsham, West Sussex, was the final event of the year, revealing the total amount raised to be much more than planned.

Anne Pierce chief executive of The Springboard Charity, said: “The funds raised have already helped 20 more underprivileged young people go through a development programme and mentoring sustainable employment. Thank You!”

The core event of the 12 months of fundraising was a sponsored bike ride in July , with other initiatives including a pop-up restaurant, cake sales, a 2012 staff calendar, 5km fun-runs and sponsored dog walks.

Exclusive Hotels’ Managing Director Danny Pecorelli added: “The whole experience has been a fantastic journey and I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of spirit – everyone who has touched the campaign in any way, large or small has driven us towards this truly remarkable total.

“I am so proud of what we have accomplished.”
