Front-of-house staff to be celebrated on National Waiters' Day
The brainchild of Fred Sireix, general manager at Galvin at Windows, the day was set up in 2013 to recognise hard working front-of-house staff across the UK and help combat negative stereotypes of the industry.
This year's event is co-ordinated by The SpringBoard Charity and will feature the infamous National Waiters' Day race in London’s Hyde Park.
Anne Pierce, CEO of Springboard said: “We are delighted to be part of this fantastic National Waiters' Day initiative to promote the waiting profession and hospitality industry as an great career choice and celebrate the success of waiters.
“The proceeds raised from the initiative will go towards enabling Springboard to continue to develop and run an exciting programme for schools to encourage young people to consider a career in front-of-house and service."
Businesses up and down the country will host a range of events to encourage people to join in, from a ‘skills session’ to organising their own Waiters' Day race.

“The idea behind National Waiters' Day is to bring a spotlight to the hospitality Industry and showcase what a great range of exciting careers the industry has to offer, and we’ll also be having a lot of fun in the process.”
Last year over 400 front-of-house and service staff from hotels, restaurants and food service management companies across the UK took part in the famous waiter's race.
This year’s race will take place at 4pm on 21 May 2015, in Hyde Park.
