Now in its sixth year, Young Marketer of the Year is given out to a marketing talent under 30 who can show they have made a significant contribution to their company. Previous winners of the award have worked for Hilton Hotels, Marriott and Maybourne Hotels..

Speaking to BigHospitality, Andrea McKay, chairman of the HMA said: "The Young Marketer of the Year looks for someone who has shown potential. Sarah has been in the industry for a while and in a number of roles but she seemed in the last year to grow."

Tobler won for implementing digital marketing campaigns for The Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel and won a promotion and two internal awards within the hotel in the last year. The panel of industry judges singled Tobler out as 'one to watch'.

De Vere the big winners

This year the HMA celebrates its 40th anniversary and the awards themselves are in their 18th year. The ceremony was held at the HMA's 40th Anniversary Christmas Lunch at The Savoy Hotel in London on 19 December.

The big winners on the night were De Vere who won Best Marketing Activity on a Small Budget, Best Social Media Campaign for their work on Facebook, which is one of the biggest referring sites to the De Vere website, and Best Marketing Campaign Hotel Group or Group Hotel.

A campaign for Intercontinental Hotel Group won the Best Agency Promotion or Campaign award for marketing agency Law Creative.

Any UK based hotel groups or independent hotels can enter the HMA awards along with external marketing agencies.
