The nominees for the 10th London Restaurant Awards are announced

The nominees for this year`s London Restaurant Awards have been announced and for the first time all six contestants for the Outstanding London Chef title are British.

Anthony Demetre, Chris Galvin, Jason Atherton, Mark Hix, Rowley Leigh and Theo Randall were named as award finalists by ITV news reader Katie Derham yesterday.

Awards organiser Amanda Biddle said: "For the first time in history, every name in the Outstanding London Chef category is British, showing that home-grown talent is excelling among the capital`s leading chefs."

Hix (pictured), who told BigHospitality about his plans to open restaurants in Lyme Regis and New York this year, is leading nominations in this year`s competition after also being shortlisted for British Restaurant of the Year and New Restaurant of the Year.

The now London-based Hibiscus is competing alongside some of of the city`s more established restaurants for French Restaurant of the Year and is also in the running for New Restaurant of the Year.

The awards – now in their 10th year – return after a break for two years with a new sponsor, commercial property investment company aAim.

The judging panel is made up of the food critics Charles Campion, Giles Coren, Terry Durack, Tracey Macleod, Fay Maschler, Matthew Norman and Jay Rayner.

Winners will be announced on September 1 at a ceremony at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London.
