National Restaurant Awards 2014 winner Gymkhana was among 14 UK restaurants to win single stars in the latest edition of the Michelin guide, published today.

Other restaurants to achieve one-star status included Kitchen Table at Bubbledogs, City Social, Clove Club, Fera at Claridges, Barrafina, The Cross at Kenilworth, Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen, The Star Inn and The Treby Arms.

There were no new additions to the two- and three-Michelin star lists, meaning that Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester, The Fat Duck, Gordon Ramsay and the Waterside Inn remain the only three-Michelin starred restaurants in the UK.

"The 14 new stars in our 2015 guide highlight the enormous richness and variety of the UK's restaurant scene. They range from country pubs to hipster hangouts, from counter restaurants to classic dining rooms,” said Rebecca Burr, editor of  the Great Britain and Ireland Michelin Guide 2015.

"The public's knowledge and interest in food gets greater every year and it won't just be fans of cookery shows who will be planning trips to Devon to the Treby Arms.

"The Clove Club shows that there is no shortage of talented young chefs coming through. Barrafina has just got better and better over the years and even when a second branch was being planned and subsequently opened, we still experienced the same high standard of cooking."

Michelin also awarded 26 new Bib Gourmands, which recognise restaurants offering high quality but inexpensive food, to UK venues including  Iberico World Tapas in Derby,  64° in Brighton and Polpetto, Bibo and Palomar in London.

“The Bib Gourmand awards also reflect the continuing trend for competitively priced, less structured and more flexible dining”, Burr said.

Restaurants that lost their Michelin-stars this year include Nobu and Nobu at The Berkley, Viajante, Bo London, Medlar and Emsworth restaurant 36 on the Quay, which had held its star  since 1997.
