The scheme hopes to encourage chefs to champion small-scale producers and sustainably-sourced produce. Chefs attending include Marcello Tully of the Michelin-starred Kinloch Lodge, Brian Maule from Glasgow’s Chardon D’or and Charles Lockley, head chef at the Nairn restaurant Boath House.

Slow Food UK Chief executive Catherine Gazzoli said: “The London launch saw lots of big names sign up, including the likes of Michel Roux Jr, Francesco Mazzei and Raymond Blanc, so we’re really excited to see what will result from the Scottish event; it should make for a fantastic lunch.”

The Chef Alliance will be rolled out across the UK, with more regional launches set to be hosted in 2012. All types of establishments are welcomed, however resident chefs must first become members of their local Slow Food group.

Richard Corrigan has taken on the role of Chef Alliance Ambassador and he recently launched an innovative new menu celebrating ‘Forgotten Foods’.
