A call for entries has gone out for next year’s Spanish young Chef of the Year competition, which will see the winner earn a placement in one of Spain’s Michelin-starred restaurants.

The competition, launched in 2008, asks students and young chefs up to the age of 25 to design a three-course Spanish-inspired menu.

A first stage paper round will shortlist the eight finalists who will take part in a live cook-off in London in January 2011.  The winner will receive a work placement in a leading Spanish restaurant, including paid travel and accommodation for the trip.

Last year’s winner Selin Kiazim will be taking up a placement in El Bulli in December this year.  She was also shortlisted as one of the finalists for the Craft Guild of Chefs’ National Chef of the Year competition, which was held at the Restaurant Show last week.

The closing date for the first round of the Spanish Young Chef of the Year 2011 competition is 3 December 2010.  An entry form can be downloaded via FoodsFromSpain.co.uk.
