Does the hospitality industry need more female-focused awards, such as Best Female Chef?

That’s the question up for discussion at the first Industry Talks panel event of 2017, which will be held at Love Lane Wines in Liverpool on 3 April.

It will be run by The TMRW Project, a collaborative scheme set up by Duck & Waffle chef Dan Doherty, writer Anna Sulan Masing, and Burnt Truffle general manager Emma Underwood, with the aim of supporting young talent working in hospitality.

Underwood and Masing will be joined at the Liverpool debate by chefs Elizabeth Allen and Mary-Ellen McTague, industry PR Gwen Prior and GG Hospitality’s restaurant operations manager Charlotte Rasburn.

The evening is also designed to provide a place for women in hospitality to get together and discuss the pressures of the industry, their career plans and how to develop their skills.

Tickets are available for £8 and include a glass of wine on arrival.

Doors open at 6.30pm, with the discussion starting at 7pm followed by a Q&A at 7.45pm.

Industry Talks is an ongoing series of panel discussions designed to tackle sensitive topics such as bullying in the hospitality industry.

The TMRW Project’s initiatives also include the Chefs of Tomorrow programme and The Switch, which sees front-of-house staff in different restaurants swap roles for up to five days.
