Chefs and restaurateurs from The World’s 50 Best Restaurants are set to descend on London tonight (28 April) for the 12th annual World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards. Follow the action with BigHospitality on Facebook and Twitter for updates, photos and gossip as the evening unfolds.

Infamous chefs from across the world will join members of The World's 50 Best Academy, sponsors, special guests and international press at The Guildhall; to find out where their restaurant appears on the list – an annual snapshot of the opinions of over 900 industry experts.

Special awards have already been granted to Helena Rizzo - this year's Veuve Clicquot Best Female Chef - and UK chef Fergus Henderson – the Lifetime Achievement Award-winner. But all eyes and ears will undoubtedly be on finding out which restaurants have made the prestigious top 50 and whether Spain’s El Celler de Can Roca will hold off the likes of Noma (Denmark) and Osteria Francescana (Italy) for the second year running.

The Awards, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna and organised by Restaurant magazine, are now in their 11th year. William Drew, group editor of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, said: “We strive to ensure the results reflect the current global dining scene, with criteria enabling members to vote far and wide from small, unknown restaurants in secluded regions to the best known restaurants in the world.

“We are proud of the integrity upheld by our Academy and have no doubt the 2014 list will prove to be as exciting and inspiring as ever.”
