Customers at Costa are being encouraged to pout for the camera with the launch of new 'selfie zones' in selected stores.

Diners in London, Leeds and Glasgow can now pose in a Miami-themed setting with sun loungers, fake grass and flamingos.

The three ‘Seriously Summer’ stores have been decked out with tropical décor to celebrate the launch of Costa’s summer menu across the UK today.

Hot pink neon signs, patterned cushions, and plants now adorn the restaurants, while Baristas have been given a new look with specially designed t-shirts from fashion entertainment site Refinery 29.

Caroline Harris, UK&I marketing director at Costa, said: “We wanted to give select Costa stores a complete revamp to celebrate the start of summer and create an engaging environment for customers to enjoy our new summer menu. We hope the fresh look will encourage customers to see Costa as a seriously summer destination."

New menu items menu include SuperDay Smoothies and Rainbow Salad Wraps.

The move is a the latest effort by Costa to capitalise on the social media marketing revolution and its popularity with younger diners.

However, the tide could be turning against phones in restaurants.

According to OpenTable research, over 80 per cent of UK diners want restaurants to introduce 'no phone zones', with 90 per cent considering it 'rude' to use a smartphone at the table.

The Seriously Summer stores on London’s Great Portland Street, Briggate in Leeds, and Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow will keep their new look until 27 June.
