The Vurger Co crowdfunds £200k in two days

Plant-based burger pop-up The Vurger Co has hits its £180,000 crowdfunding target within 30 hours of its launch.

Founders Rachel Hugh and Neil Potts are planning to use the money to kick start a meat-free ‘revolution in fast food’ by opening their first permanent London site.

The duo have teamed up with chef Andrew Dargue, from vegetarian restaurant Vanilla Black, to create a menu of vegetable-based burgers, sides, brownies and shakes.

At the time of writing the campaign has raised over £212,000 from 192 investors.

Potts wrote on the Crowdcube page that the team were ‘ecstatic’ about the result.

“We couldn’t be more grateful if we had a million years to try and we are absolutely honoured by your belief in who we are and what we are trying to build,” he said.

The project will now go in to overfunding for the remaining 27 days.
