Has the National Chef of the Year been diluted?

The National Chef of the Year competition has been expanded to include Asian and Mediterranean cuisines, but while some say the new format has diluted the competition, others believe it's now a true reflection of modern British cuisine as a whole

The National Chef of the Year competition has now been expanded to highlight every aspect of modern British cuisine.

With four categories this year: Asian, Modern British/ Irish, European, and Mediterranean, the competition has for the first time been opened up to chefs practicing minority cuisines.

While some have said the new format has diluted the competition, others believe it now shows a true reflection of British cuisine as a whole.

Judges John Campbell, executive chef at Coworth Park and Cyrus Todiwala, chef/owner of Cafe Spice Namaste, told BigHospitality why the National Chef of the Year is now bigger than ever.

Don't forget, if you'd like to see the competitors take part in the live final at The Restaurant Show at London's Earls Court 2 on 11 October, make sure you register for your free pass at www.therestaurantshow.co.uk .
