It will be the first time that René Redzepi -whose Danish restaurant Noma has topped the World's 50 Best Restaurants list for the past two years, has taken Noma's vision outside Copenhagen.

The chef plans to serve lunch and dinner menu at the restaurant, named 'A Taste of Noma at Claridge's and situated in the hotel's ballroom, from 28 July to 6 August. The five-course menu will be priced at £195 per person and will reflect 'signature flavours and dishes from Noma' while using local and seasonal British ingredients.

He said: “We are excited about the opportunity to be part of the celebration of the Olympic Games in London and to work closely with the team at Claridge’s. It is a different set-up from our home field, but we look forward to exploring the bounty of a different part of the world.”

'Exciting time'

Claridge's general manager Thomas Kochs, who worked with Redzepi and the team behind the Taste festival to bring about the Noma pop-up, said: “The arrival of René and his team marks a true milestone in Claridge’s culinary history, especially during such an exciting time in the capital.

“As London welcomes the best of the best from around the globe this summer, we are proud to make our contribution by bringing the world's best restaurant to Claridge's.”

Redzepi follows Pierre Koffmann and fellow World's 50 Best Restaurants chef Thomas Keller to open pop-up restaurants in London. Koffmann's restaurant on the roof at department store Selfridge's was extended for an extra month after it proved so popular while Keller ran a pop-up version of his French Laundry restaurant at Harrods for 10 days in October 2011.

A Taste of Noma will arrive in London at what is expected to be an already busy time for the capital's hospitality businesses. Interest can be registered at www.claridges.co.uk/atasteofnoma .
