Aspall to launch 8.2% abv vintage cyder
Aspall Imperial Cyder, based on a 90-year-old recipe using bittersweet apples and muscovado sugar, is the first product to be launched by the company in four years and will be available to the on-trade later this summer instead of this autumn.
It will be available in 500ml bottles and sit at the top of the Suffolk-based producer's existing range which comprises Aspall Premier Cru Suffolk Cyder, Aspall Organic Suffolk Cyder, Aspall Draught Suffolk Cyder and Aspall Perronelle’s Blush.
Geoff Bradman, Aspall joint managing director, said the decision to launch early came following positive feedback from the trade.
"Quality always comes first at Aspall and we will only engage in genuine new product development that will drive the cider market forwards. Imperial had been in development for a nearly a year with a planned autumn launch. However, trade feedback was so positive that we accelerated the launch date by four months," he said.
Bradman said the cider was suited to cider connoissoirs but was also a good accompaniment to food.
“We are really proud of Aspall Imperial Cyder and of successfully refining a 90-year old recipe for modern-day taste buds. The result is a serious product to be savoured by cider aficionados and is a perfect accompaniment to food, especially with strong cheese, sausages and salads."
