The Country Range Group has announced the launch of two new sweet and sour sauces for caterers looking to feature oriental dishes on their menus.

CRG claim the sauces can be used for more than creating traditional sweet and sour dishes

The sauces, which are available in smooth and chunky varieties, are gluten-free and suitable for vegetarians.

Available in 2.25kg tubs, the sauces join Country Range’s existing RTU chilli and curry sauces.

Nigel Smith, consultant development chef for the Country Range brand, said: “One of the best things I’ve found is that (the sauces) are so versatile. I’ve used the sauce with pork sausages, coating the sausages in the smooth sauce, before baking them in the oven. The result was a delicious tapas-style appetizer. The sauces are also great as dips. Get some chicken fillets and fry them up in some tempura batter and you’re onto a real winner.”
