The Drury Tea & Coffee Company has introduced a lighter roast with a ‘milder, frutier’ flavour to its Caffé Cuidado range of espresso coffees for trade.

The introduction of Cuidado Light takes to 17 the number of different espresso coffees available in the London-based coffee roaster and tea blender’s range.

The beans in Cuidado Light have been roasted lighter than usual although the blend itself remains the same.

Drury says the Rainforest Alliance certified coffee will reflect the trend for lighter and fruitier espressos but would still be strong enough in milk-based beverages such as lattè and cappuccino.

The Drury Tea & Coffee director, Marco Olmi, said the reason behind the lighter roast was to widen the attraction of the coffee range. “It is amazing what changing the roast has brought to this coffee. The quality of the blend shines through in both cases, but the lighter version with its milder, fruitier taste will appeal to a great many people,” he said.

Drury first launched the Caffè Cuidado range four years ago as a traditional espresso roast with the name using the Spanish word for ‘care’, ‘Cuidado’, to reflect the aims of the Rainforest Alliance.
