The new 40-strong range marries a classic style with innovation and is designed to help restaurants, hotels and pubs 'enhance' the food coming out of their kitchens, but which is primarily aimed at fine dining and banqueting venues.

Each piece, from plates and bowls to mugs, cups and saucers, jugs and sauce boats is white and embossed with variations of the same curved design, rather than a completely identical design, which Steelite says adds 'individuality, sophistication and surprise'.

Andrew Klimecki, Steelite International’s head of design and product innovation, said: “We took inspiration from many sources and design trends – from new directions in architecture to technology and our ambition was to create a range which diners would find aspirational and innovative.

“Optik provides a forward-looking, sophisticated platform to provide chef with a creative yet functional partnering tool, to enhance and best present, his creativity and skill.”

First unveiled at Messe Frankfurt's Ambiente last week, Optik will also be on show for the first time in the UK at Hotelympia at London's Excel from 26 February.
