The celebrity chef has chosen sites in Moscow and St Petersburg as the first Russian outposts for the Jamie's Italian empire - both are set to open next year.

"I am incredibly excited about taking Jamie’s Italian to Russia and Ginza are fantastic partners," Oliver said. "It’s great to be able to find and work with such an ambitious and creative company who are also great operators.

"The sites we've got in Moscow and St Petersburg are in brilliant locations, and the buildings themselves are absolutely stunning," he added. Ginza Project, founded in 2003, currently operates 59 restaurants in Russia and the USA and has secured sites in the historical part of St Petersburg city centre and a 'trendy' Moscow building.

Jamie's Italian now has 30 sites in the UK plus restaurants in Dubai, Dublin and Sydney with an upcoming opening planned in Perth.
