Kevin Bacon joins Ignite Group as director

Kevin Bacon, the former managing director of Jamie’s Italian International, has joined Ignite Group as non-executive director.

Bacon joins the London-based bar, club and restaurant operator just months after the appointment of Alice Avis MBE as a non-executive director in September.

Having spent eight years as a main board director at The Restaurant Group, Bacon joined Jamie’s Italian in 2008, but subsequently left the casual restaurant chain in September last year after the company streamlined its management team. His position was absorbed by UK managing director Simon Blagden.

Matt Hermer, chief executive at Ignite, which operates restaurants Bumpkin and Cocoon, said: “I am delighted to welcome Kevin to the board. His operational expertise and vast experience will be crucial to help us with the next stage of our ambitious growth strategy both in the UK and internationally.”

Ignite is also set to open Wyld, a new club that will form part of the W Hotel in Leicester Square in February.
