Michelin France Guide gives Gordon Ramsay another star

Gordon Ramsay has credited his use of British produce as helping him add another star to his collection in this year’s Michelin Guide for France.

The chef’s Bordeaux restaurant Le Pressoir d’Argent has gained a second star less than two years after it first opened.

Michelin inspectors awarded the restaurant its first star in 2016, despite Ramsay causing a stir by putting English sparkling wines on the menu.

However, his Au Trianon restaurant at Versailles, which was downgraded to one star last year, did not regain its two-star status.

“France is home to some of the best produce and wines in the world, but also championing produce from the British Isles, such as venison from the Scottish countryside and sparkling wines from Kent, is what has made this restaurant exceptional,” says Ramsay.

“To win our second star after just 17 months is truly an honour and a testament to the loyalty and dedication of the team and chef de cuisine, Gilad Peled.”

Ramsay now holds seven stars across his 31 restaurants worldwide.

This year The Michelin Guide for France 2017 awarded one or more stars to 70 new restaurants in the country, the largest number of the past decade.

The only new three-star addition was chef Yannick Alleno’s Le 1947 restaurant at the Cheval Blanc hotel in Courchevel in the French alps.
