Prince's Trust launches hospitality training scheme
Over 150 of the UK’s most disadvantaged 16-25 year olds will be trained in key skills including guest service, alcohol licensing laws and food preparation as part of the ‘Get into Hospitality’ programme.
Students will receive tips on CV writing and interview techniques alongside career support from an experienced Greene King team member.
Rooney Anand, Greene King’s chief executive officer, said: “We know that many young people find it difficult to get their first job, particularly in disadvantaged areas and we believe pubs can help them get onto the career ladder."
"We want to support young people into work by offering opportunities to learn a skill and a trade and help them start their career journeys.”
Nationwide support
The pub chain is aiming to offer jobs and apprenticeships to as many participants in the three week course as possible.
The first scheme launches in London on 25 April, and ten programmes will run around the country over the next year in areas including Liverpool, Portsmouth and Glasgow.
A recruitment day for prospective youngsters will be held by The Prince’s Trust in each area.
Greene King is aiming to take on 10,000 apprentices over the next three years.
By 2019 the pub chain predicts it will have supported more than 17,000 young people in to training since 2011.
