The Roca brothers – whose restaurant El Celler de Can Roca was named second best in the world by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants this week ‒ are to open a pop-up at London’s Hotel Café Royal.

For four nights from 2-5 August, the collaboration will see the brothers bring their famous Girona-influenced cuisine to the five-star, 160-bedroom hotel’s Domino restaurant.

The London visit forms part of the brothers’ third annual BBVA World Tour of El Celler de Can Roca, in association with the multinational, Madrid-founded banking group BBVA, which also operates a global investment banking division in London’s Canary Wharf. The culinary tour was first launched in 2013, and this year will see the brothers host pop-ups in Hong Kong, Phoenix, San Francisco, and Santiago de Chile.

Joan Roca, the eldest brother and head chef at El Celler, commented: “Wherever we go on the BBVA World Tour, we look to work with venues that are emblematic of their cities ‒ and Hotel Café Royal is a London landmark.”

A spokesperson for the hotel said: “We are delighted to be the London host for this exclusive dinner with the Roca brothers and BBVA and are thrilled to be welcoming them to the capital this summer.  The Roca brothers are renowned for their creativity and we look forward to seeing their take on the UK’s regional dishes.”

Recently renovated and relaunched, the Hotel Café Royal is located on Regent Street between Soho and Mayfair, and operates a range of restaurants and bars, including The Club at Café Royal, the Oscar Wilde Bar, the Green Room, and a dessert restaurant from Sarah Barber in The Café.

El Celler de Can Roca was named the world's best at The World's 50 Best Restaurants in 2013 and 2015, and was this week knocked just down by just one place in the 2016 rankings, after Massimo Bottura’s Osteria Francescana took the top spot for the first time.

Hotel Café Royal is part of The Set group, a trio of hotels that also includes the Conservatorium in Amsterdam and the Lutetia in Paris, the latter of which is due to open in autumn 2017.
