The Craft Guild of Chefs has teamed up with McCain Foodservice to launch the first McCain Signature Dish Competition.
Students in their third year and young chefs in their first year of working are encouraged to apply for the competition and create an innovative and original starter and main course from the McCain Signature range.
Craft Guild chef and judge Mathew Shropshall said: “I know from personal experience just how important student competitions are in helping young chefs stand out among their peers. This is a chance for young chefs to develop their own unique vision and sense of style in the kitchen.”
Both the winner and his/ her employer/ college will receive £1k at the competition’s grand final at Thames Valley University on 13 June 2009, with three runners up each obtaining £750.
Chefs are asked to email craftguild@btconnect.com for more information and an entry form. The deadline for entries is 28 February 2009, after which several shortlisted entrants will be chosen to compete at regional preliminary heats at Sheffield College, Thanet College, City of Bristol College and Liverpool College.
