Simpsons Restaurant chef wins young BCF title

Helen Evans from Simpsons Restaurant in Edgbaston has been named the British Culinary Federation’s Young Chef of the Year.

 

The only female finalist in the competition, Evans beat 15 other chefs aged under 23 to the title at a live final held at University College Birmingham .

 

Evans, who works under Michelin starred chef Andreas Antona and has never competed in a competition before, said: “I was shocked but ecstatic to win such a prestigious award.”

 

In second and third places were Aaron Darnley from Edmunds Restaurant in Solihull, and Matthew Willdig from Moat House in Stafford.
